This method is considered primarily to remove colonies of different bacteria thriving in small pockets located at the base of the teeth. If left untreated, the condition can have an adverse effect on oral health and compromise the immune system. Hence we always advice our patients to get a Laser curettage done once in every 2-3years. A periodontal disease starts when bacteria found in plaques, infect the areas around the teeth and form the hardened substance called tartar. This leads to inflammation (swelling and redness) of gum tissues and affect both the tooth and underlying jawbone. The initial therapy for this condition involves manual removal of plaque and tartar build-up, termed as ‘Scaling and Root Planing’. However there are cases in which bacteria are not completely removed by the procedure and still periodontitis re-occurs chronically. This indicates the use of advanced laser technology that our clinic specializes in to kill off the remaining bacterial colonies and promote healing of the diseased gum and tissues. Laser curettage is generally considered a safe procedure to restore good dental health and hygiene. It is also associated with strong homeostasis with less tissue charring or blackening.
